Welcome to Project 9 Technologies. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Project 9 Technologies website at project9tech.com, the HQ Adventure Intelligence application at hq.project9tech.com, and any other applications, features, or services operated by Project 9 Technologies (collectively, the "Services").
Project 9 Technologies is a sole proprietorship based in California ("we," "us," "our," or "Company").
By creating an account, accessing, or using any of our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional terms that apply to specific features or services. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our Services.
You must be at least 16 years of age to use our Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Project 9 Technologies operates an Adventure Intelligence Platform that provides AI-generated trip briefings, outdoor activity intelligence, weather analysis, park conditions, campground information, and related trip planning content ("Briefings"). The platform currently includes the following applications:
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible.
To access certain features, you must create an account using a valid email address and password, or through Google OAuth sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as necessary. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information, or that violate these Terms.
You must notify us immediately at go@project9tech.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
California Auto-Renewal Disclosure (Business & Professions Code § 17600–17606): Your subscription will automatically renew on a monthly basis at the then-current price until you cancel. You are authorizing recurring charges to your payment method. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or by emailing go@project9tech.com.
Project 9 Technologies offers both free and paid subscription tiers. The current paid plan is priced at $1.00 USD per month ("Pro" plan). Free-tier users have access to a limited number of Briefings per month. Paid subscribers receive expanded access as described at the time of signup.
Your paid subscription automatically renews on a monthly basis on the same calendar day you originally subscribed, at the then-current subscription price, unless and until you cancel. Each renewal charge will be applied to the payment method on file.
By completing the subscription process and affirmatively checking the auto-renewal consent checkbox, you explicitly agree to automatic monthly renewal and authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. This consent is separate from your agreement to these general Terms of Service.
You may cancel your subscription at any time by either of the following methods:
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid features through the end of the month you have already paid for. No partial-month refunds are issued.
We may change subscription pricing at any time. You will be notified by email at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel before the increase applies.
We may offer promotional codes that reduce the subscription price. Any promotional price supersedes the base $1.00 USD price for the duration of the promotion. When a promotion expires, your subscription will renew at the then-current standard price. You will be notified by email before any price change takes effect.
If we offer a free trial period, you will be notified in advance of the date the trial ends and the paid subscription begins. You will receive an email reminder before charges begin.
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. (stripe.com). Your payment card information is transmitted directly to Stripe using industry-standard encryption and is never stored on Project 9 Technologies servers. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
By providing your payment information, you represent that you are the authorized user of that payment method and authorize us, through Stripe, to charge it for your subscription. You agree to maintain accurate and current payment information.
Charges will appear on your statement as "Project 9 Technologies" or a similar descriptor. All subscription fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
Important: Briefings are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or inaccuracies. They are not a substitute for independent verification or professional advice.
All adventure intelligence Briefings are generated using artificial intelligence technology (Claude, developed by Anthropic, Inc.) in combination with real-time data from third-party sources. While we work to ensure quality and accuracy, AI-generated content is inherently probabilistic and may not always be correct.
Factual assertions in Briefings — including weather forecasts, park hours, trail conditions, road conditions, campground availability, fee amounts, and regulatory requirements — should not be relied upon without independent verification from authoritative sources (National Weather Service, nps.gov, recreation.gov, local authorities, etc.) before making any plans or decisions that affect your safety or well-being.
Briefings do not constitute professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to safety guidance, medical advice, legal advice, or navigation instructions. Project 9 Technologies is an information aggregation and AI analysis service, not a licensed guide service, outfitter, or safety authority.
Outdoor activities involve inherent risks including serious injury and death. Project 9 Technologies provides planning intelligence only. We are not responsible for your decisions, actions, or safety in the field.
By using our Services to plan outdoor activities, you acknowledge and accept that outdoor recreation — including but not limited to off-roading, overlanding, hiking, camping, climbing, fishing, hunting, boating, and backcountry travel — involves inherent and significant risks. These risks include, but are not limited to: adverse weather, animal encounters, equipment failure, getting lost, falls, drowning, vehicle accidents, rockslides, avalanches, flash floods, altitude sickness, hypothermia, dehydration, and other hazards.
You are solely responsible for your own safety and the safety of anyone in your group. You agree to independently verify all conditions, obtain appropriate permits, carry proper equipment, inform others of your plans, and make your own judgment calls in the field. A Briefing is a starting point for planning, not a substitute for experience, preparation, local knowledge, or common sense.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Project 9 Technologies, its owner, affiliates, and service providers shall not be liable for any injury, death, property damage, or loss of any kind arising from or related to outdoor activities you undertake, regardless of whether those activities were planned using information from our Services.
Our Services incorporate data from the following third-party sources. Each provider has its own terms, and by using our Services, you acknowledge and agree to respect the applicable terms of these data sources:
Weather information is sourced from OpenWeather (openweathermap.org), provided under the Open Database License (ODbL). Weather forecasts are estimates and may differ from actual conditions. Always verify current conditions through the National Weather Service before outdoor activities.
Park conditions, alerts, hours, and facility information are sourced from the National Park Service API (nps.gov). We recommend confirming current conditions, hours, and closures directly with the specific park before visiting.
Campground, recreation area, and reservation data are sourced from Recreation.gov's Recreation Information Database (RIDB), provided under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license. Availability, pricing, and reservation requirements must be verified directly on recreation.gov. Project 9 Technologies does not process campground reservations and is not affiliated with Recreation.gov or the National Recreation Reservation Service.
Briefing generation is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Your trip preferences and queries are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy apply to the processing of this data.
If you sign in via Google OAuth, your authentication is facilitated through Google Cloud. Google's Privacy Policy governs how Google handles your data during the sign-in process.
Our use of these third-party services does not constitute an endorsement, warranty, or guarantee of their data, availability, or accuracy. Links to external sites are provided for convenience and reference only.
You retain ownership of any personal information, preferences, and trip planning inputs you provide. Briefings generated specifically for your account are yours to use for personal, non-commercial trip planning purposes.
"Project 9 Technologies," "Project 9," the PROJ9 wordmark, the Project 9 seal, and related trademarks, logos, and branding elements are the property of Project 9 Technologies. You may not use, reproduce, or display these marks without prior written permission.

You agree not to use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful, harmful, or prohibited by these Terms. Specifically, you agree not to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access for violation of this section, with or without notice.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at go@project9tech.com. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately, though we may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, or extended inactivity. Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination.
The Services are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Project 9 Technologies expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
In no event shall Project 9 Technologies, its owner, affiliates, officers, agents, or service providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages for lost profits, lost revenue, loss of data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, personal injury, or property damage, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Services, regardless of the cause of action or theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the extent that any limitation of liability is found unenforceable, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Project 9 Technologies in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100.00 USD).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Project 9 Technologies, its owner, and its service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any outdoor activity you undertake, whether or not such activity was planned using our Services.
These Terms and any disputes arising hereunder are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at go@project9tech.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Most concerns can be resolved quickly through direct communication.
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, any legal action or proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action. If this waiver is found unenforceable, the entirety of this arbitration/dispute resolution section shall be null and void.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Services, business practices, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must discontinue use and cancel your subscription before the effective date.
